New Free-Weight Equipment From ProSpot Fitness®

High-tech strength equipment company expands commercial lineup

Atlanta, June 11, 2003 – ProSpot Fitness®, the Atlanta based company that invented the high-tech ‘spot’ less free-weight system, announces a new addition to their commercial equipment lineup.

Engineered specifically for the commercial market, the PC-1000 features the touch-sensor technology developed by ProSpot Fitness®. This patented technology allows users to lift weights without a human spotter, spotting rods or sliding tracks. Instead, a lifter can release the barbell from any position and the touch-sensitive ‘Grab and Go®’ operating system locks the barbell at the point of release. No un-racking or re-racking of the barbell is necessary. “Although these systems are super high-tech, they’ve been designed to be extremely user-friendly, which is important in a commercial setting,” says ProSpot Fitness C.E.O. and equipment inventor Mike Slawinski.

The new PC-1000 is a compact, single-station unit and can be used with or without a bench. Without a bench it can be used for exercises such as squat, bicep curls upright rows, and calf raises. Add choice of affixed bench and the PC-1000 becomes a fixed station unit enabling many different upper body exercises such as flat, incline or decline bench press, military press and tricep curls. Affixed bench options include a flat-to-military bench with drop-away headrest or a flat-to-decline bench with foam rollers for leg-hold down. Both benches have one-handle, easy positioning feature.

As featured recently in Popular Science, Men’s Health, Muscle & Fitness, and other magazines, this new technology is changing the way people use free weights. Once available only in home equipment, ProSpot Fitness has engineered their line of commercial equipment to meet the special needs of this market. “This equipment has made all the difference in my training,” says Travis Hall, Atlanta Falcon and co-owner of ProSpot Fitness. “We have this equipment in our training facility and the players love using it. Dave Redding, Head Strength Coach for the San Diego Chargers adds, “With the ProSpot Fitness equipment our players can be comfortable training at a higher level knowing they have a spotter they can rely on.”

Commercial venues, such as clubs and universities, are quickly embracing this new high-tech equipment. JJ Birden, former NFL player and co-owner of ProSpot Fitness explains why: “With the four key muscle building exercises done on traditional free weight equipment – decline, incline, military and standard bench presses – a spotter is absolutely necessary, even at the beginning of the exercise. The PC-1000 eliminates this. You just grab the bar and do your workout. When finished, just open your hands and the bar locks instantly in place.” All this translates into less worry and liability issues for club owners as well as a superior workout for members.

Clubs throughout the U.S. are beginning to add ProSpot Fitness free weight systems to their facilities, many even replacing their traditional equipment with these systems. From Crunch Fitness in West Hollywood to TSI’s New York Sports Club, ProSpot Fitness equipment is making serious inroads into the club equipment market. Other commercial customers include the Universities of Nebraska, Texas, Oregon, Brigham Young University, Creighton University and others. Some professional sports teams using ProSpot Fitness equipment include the Atlanta Falcons, San Diego Chargers and The Orlando Magic. Various professional athletes have ProSpot Fitness equipment in their homes as well. Professional athletes who train with ProSpot Fitness equipment include Bodybuilder Lee Priest (who can be seen working out on his PC-3000 in the Battle for the Olympia video), six-time Olympic medallist Angel Martinez, Super Middleweight Boxing Champion Laila Ali, NFL’s Ruben Brown, Bob Whitfield, Brian Finneran, Shane Dronnett, and many more.
